Book sale to open in ‘Friends Bookshop’
All proceeds from the bookshop go to supplement the Asheboro library’s book budget. The shop is stocked with books, videos and other items withdrawn from the library collection — but also, Friends Book Sale Committee Chair Janet Jones points out, donations that include many new books.
“We have lots of fantastic books — drop in and see them,” Jones says.
During March and April, the Friends, with help from library staff, community volunteers, the Randolph County Maintenance Department and trustees from the Randolph County Jail, packed and moved from the Cox Street residence that has housed the sale since 1992.
The residence and the house beside it will be removed to make way for a redesigned approach to the library that will ease access, enhance parking and feature green areas.
